Simpson’s Did It!

I swear.  Every time I get an idea for something, I am a Google search away from finding out that someone has (1) already done it, (2) done it right, and (3) just finished doing it.

My latest idea was an image search engine that would allow you to upload an image and find other versions of the image.  It would be useful if you had a piece of an image and wanted to find the whole thing or had a small thumbnail but wanted to find a full quality image.

And that is the beginning of the story for how I found TinEye.  A search engine that let’s you upload an image and find other versions of that image.  It is useful if you have a piece of an image and wanted to… well, you get the idea.

They require you to sign up so… I didn’t.  But you can pretty much learn everything you need to know about it from the video they have on their front page.  It looks like the company that makes it has a lot of other similarly styled products.  I wonder if this product will remain free?  Maybe there is hope for my idea yet!

There is another one worth to mention, GazoPa it’s a next generation similar image search engine in private beta.
